New York Mets apologise after including two living players in memorial montage

The New York Mets have been forced to apologise after featuring two living players in a memorial tribute montage to the team’s 1969 World Series-winning side.

During a ceremony to honour the 50-year anniversary of the Miracle Mets side, the club incorrectly featured 76-year-old Jim Gosger and 70-year-old Jesse Hudson alongside deceased members of the squad.

The Mets immediately attempted to contact Gogser and Hudson to apologise, however, the former said he would not answer the phone.

Gosger had two stints at the Mets during his ten-year career in MLB, while Hudson threw just two innings in relief.

On the field, the Mets are in turmoil having lost their last seven games, with manager Mickey Callaway struggling and pitcher Jason Vargas in hot water after physically threatening a reporter.
