New York Giants, fans pay tribute to late quarterback Jared Lorenzen

The NFL world is mourning the loss of Jared Lorenzen, the fan favorite quarterback who won a Super Bowl ring with the New York Giants. Lorenzen, known as Hefty Lefty, threw for more than 10,000 yards in four seasons at Kentucky, and signed with the Giants in 2004 after going undrafted.

The former QB struggled with weight issues in recent years after moving on from professional football, but made it a mission to get healthier and lost 100 pounds in a year.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Lorenzen had been hospitalized due to an infection, and was battling renal and cardiac issues. Lorenzen’s family said in a statement on Tuesday that he was continuing to fight, but the family announced on Wednesday that Lorenzen had passed at the age of 38.

The New York Giants, quarterback Eli Manning and former coach Tom Coughlin remembered Lorenzen in statements on social media.
