New York free set to make profit this year

There's faith in the future of the free! Tribune Company, the beleaguered publisher of the Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune, has acquired control of amNewYork, a free title that has yet to turn a profit. Launched in October 2003, about 320,000 copies of amNewYork are distributed free on weekdays in and around New York City. According to Tribune, the title will register a profit by the end of in 2006.
