At least eight people were injured on Thursday night in the New York City, after a bus veered off the road and dangled from an overpass.

The driver was “unable to navigate the roadway and went off the road" near the Cross Brinx Expressway and University Avenue around 11 pm, said the police.

While passengers suffered from minor to non life-threatening injuries, the driver of the articulated vehicle has sustained a serious injury on his jaw, reported the Associated Press. The number of people on the bus was not immediately available.

A video posted by the New York Fire Department on their Twitter handle showed the the bus that crashed through a barrier with its smashed front dangling vertically onto the lower roadway while the rear end remained on the overpass.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident and police has so far made no arrest in the matter, reported NBC.

New York council member Mark D Levine on Twitter informed that emergency services have sealed off the area in response to the incident.
