New yoga studio and creative space to launch at Wapping Wharf in Bristol

A new yoga studio and creative space is launching on Bristol's harbourside.

Elevate, headed up by Bristol-born artist and yoga teacher Ella Riggs, opens at Wapping Wharf on Saturday (August 22).

The studio will offer yoga, meditation, sound healing, 1-2-1 sessions, wellness workshops, spoken word and art events.

Located at Cargo 2, near to new Middle Eastern street food restaurant Jigaraki, Elevate will be open and accessible to all, with sessions online as well as in the studio.

Elevate is headed up by Bristol-born artist and yoga teacher Ella Riggs (Spirit PR)

Ella has taken over the space formerly home to Pure Yoga, where she worked as studio manager and teacher.

Amelia Hodge, owner of Pure Yoga, has left Wapping Wharf to focus on her digital yoga business.

Ella said: "It has been my absolute dream to open my own space. Having worked closely with the wonderful Amelia when the space was formally Pure Yoga, I fell in love with the area and community.

"I'm passionate about bringing movement, rest, wellness and art to Wapping Wharf, now more than ever."

Elevate's mission is to provide a platform for "people to feel free within their body, to express and experience through a range of practices and artistic enquiry," said a spokesperson for Cargo.

Stuart Hatton, managing director at Umberslade, the developer behind Wapping Wharf, said: "Ella has already been a part of the Wapping Wharf community through her previous involvement in Pure Yoga so we know that her new venture will fit right in.

"We wish her all the best with her exciting plans for the studio; its focus on wellness couldn't be more relevant and important right now."

Ella paused her Fine Art Masters degree to complete her yoga teacher training.

"I realised both my art and yoga practice followed the same line of enquiry, just in different packaging: deep dives into the mind-body relationship, experiencing the body as a vessel to be enjoyed, challenged and understood," she said.

"This forms the basis of my intuitive teaching style, reactive to the energy, needs and interests in the room."
