New yellow weather warning issued for Nottinghamshire as temperatures fall

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

The yellow weather warning is in place from 4pm today (January 5) until 11am tomorrow (January 6).

Forecasters predict icy surfaces could lead to difficult travel conditions in places.

The Met Office website reads: "Wintry showers are likely to persist on Tuesday night, and as ground temperatures fall below freezing, ice is likely to form on untreated surfaces."

The warning is across most western parts of England as well as some central areas.

All of Nottinghamshire is included in the weather warning, according to the Met Office map.

It says to expect some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and that there will probably be some icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Temperatures today will reach highs of 4C with some hints of sunshine through the cloud, dropping to 1C in some parts.

Tomorrow is set to be slightly cooler with top temperatures of 3C and lows of -1C.
