Meet little Ciaran Quinn – Lanarkshire’s first New Year baby.
It is believed that the wee bundle of joy could also be Scotland’s first arrival of 2021.
His mum Lisa-Anne, of Hamilton, gave birth to the beautiful baby boy at 12.19am on January 1at University Hospital Wishaw.
Proud dad Barry looked on as they welcomed the 8lb 15oz arrival, who was due just before Christmas but decided to put in a late entrance on New Year’s Day instead.
Lisa-Anne, 40, who went into hospital on Hogmanay to have her labour induced, said: “After the year we’ve just had it’s great to have this nice news to share with everybody as 2021 begins.
“When they called us in we realised his birth would either be the last thing to happen in 2020 or the first in the new year.
“The hospital staff were absolutely fabulous – I can’t praise them enough.”
Lisa-Anne, who is a secondary school guidance teacher, added: “They made sure that all the coronavirus precautions were in place and that Barry was with me during the birth,” added
Handyman Barry (40) and Lisa-Anne are now back home in Hamilton, with Ciaran and their two-year-old daughter, Grace.
Lisa-Anne said: “It’s great to get Ciaran home to introduce him to Grace and we’ve had some relatives round to see him - through a window, of course.”
NHS Lanarkshire chief midwife Cheryl Clark said: “Everyone here would like to offer our warmest congratulations to Lisa-Anne and Barry for their little bundle of New Year joy.”
