New Year Honours: Northern Ireland recipients who have been awarded a gong

Sporting legends and community heroes across Northern Ireland are among those named in this year's New Year Honours list.

King Charles' first New Years honours list has recognised over 1,000 people across the UK to celebrate their contributions to society, community or their area of work.

This year's list, which is the first published since the Queen's death and the first to be signed off by the new King, includes a total of 1,107 recipients - 50% of whom are women.

The former president of the Ulster Farmers' Union (UFU) Victor Chestnutt has been recognised with an OBE for services to agriculture.

Former Northern Ireland women's football captain Gail Redmond is made an MBE in the New Year Honours list while internationally renowned bowler Sandra Bailie has also been made an MBE.

The father of Enda Dolan, who has tirelessly campaigned for tougher sentences for those convicted of causing death by dangerous driving, is to receive a British Empire Medal (BEM).

The youngest person to be honoured is Dara McAnulty, 18, from Annalong, Co Down, who receives a BEM for his environmental work and work with people with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
