
With new lockdown restrictions in place across many areas in the UK, thousands of non-essential stores are closed.
If you are lucky enough to be living in an area not in Tier 4, some popular department stores many be able open over the New Year. However, the majority will remain closed - or only open for click and collect orders.
John Lewis will be closed nationwide on 1 January, while other popular chains advise shoppers to check online before heading out.
Fortunately most bargain-hunters will be able to shop all the January sale discounts from the comfort of their sofa.
Below we have outlined the opening times for major chains like M&S, House of Fraser, Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and more.
New Year 2021 department store opening times
Marks & Spencer

M&S has confirmed that "Across the UK, all of our food halls remain open for you and your community, including those in our larger stores."
However, customers will not be able to shop for non-essential items, and are being advised to order online from marksandspencer.com.

John Lewis

Most John Lewis stores in Tier 4 in England and Wales are temporarily closed in line with the latest government guidelines. Stores in Scotland are also closed.

Selfridges has temporarily closed all stores in line with current government guidelines.

Harrods has confirmed stores are closed due to Tier 4 restrictions. However the retailer will be keeping its food hall and pharmacy open over the festive season.
