New wing could turn Ilac Centre into late night shopping destination

The owners of the Ilac Centre are hoping a new wing could turn the Henry Street complex into a late night shopping destination.

Hammerson and Irish Life, who co-own the centre, have recently created units for three restaurants, a cafe and 3,000 square foot store.

A number of new tenants have already been secure for the units, including casual dining outlet Silverleaf and Yours Clothing, a plus-size clothing outlet for women.

Consultants for Hammerson said the new restaurants could contribute a comparable leisure experience to what's on offer on Grafton Street and the Dundrum Town Centre, reports the Sunday Business Post.

The consultants have had requests from the restaurants and cafes in the centre to open until 9pm from Monday to Friday.

To facilitate the opening of restaurants, Thronton O'Connor consultants said retail units at the centre would also need to open late.

The paper reports that Hammerson are believed to be in talks with neighbouring retailers on Henry Street about opening until 9pm.
