New West Lothian Covid testing centre opens at Livingston Football Club

The UK government have opened a new walk-in testing Covid centre today at Livingston Football Club.

From Thursday April 8, West Lothian locals who are displaying symptoms will be able to attend the testing facility which is stationed at a car park near the Tony Macaroni stadium.

The centre will operate seven days a week, with appointments available from 8am to 8pm.

The UK Government say the new testing facility is 'part of the largest network of diagnostic testing facilities created in British history.'

Across Scotland, there are now eight drive-through sites, 41 walk-through sites, and 42 mobile units where Scots displaying symptoms of the bug can get tested.

Those who are experiencing a continuous cough, or a loss or change to their sense of smell or taste should book a test in advance in advance at: www.nhsinform.scot/test-and-protect or by calling 0800 028 2816.

As with the other sites, the Covid tests at the new Livingston facility will involve staff taking a swab of the nose and the back of the throat.

Those making their way to the centre are being urged not to use taxis or public transport and should wear a face covering while travelling to and from the test centre, and while in the centre.
