New website launched allowing Dublin voters easy way to check and amend electoral details

A new web portal allowing Dubliners to check and edit their electoral details has been launched ahead of the Local and European Elections.

Voter.ie is a joint initiative involving the four Dublin local authorities.

It was developed to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the Register of Electors and allow for online registration.

Minister of State for Local Government and Electoral Reform, John Paul Phelan, welcomed the initiative.

Her said: “This initiative by the four Dublin local authorities is a very welcome and valuable project.

"This will provide an additional service to those who wish to avail of this online service, and will complement the current manual process, which will continue to be available for those who wish to use it.

"I see this as an important step towards the Government’s plan to improve and modernise the electoral registration process.”

Voters can check if they are eligible to vote in an election by entering their full name and address or Eircode on the  Voter.ie  website.

It is an additional service available to voters in Dublin and it does not replace the existing paper process.

In addition to the basic search functionality, the portal will also allow voters who are registered with  mygovid  to add themselves to the Register of Electors, change their address or other details and remove themselves from the Register.

The European and Local Elections and the Referendum on the Regulation of Divorce will take place on Friday, May 24.

All EU and non-EU citizens legally resident in Ireland are entitled to vote in the Local Elections.

All EU citizens resident in the country are entitled to vote in the European Elections.
