New weather warnings for ice and snow issued for Nottinghamshire

Further yellow weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office for ice and snow.

From 6pm this evening (Monday, December 28) until 10am tomorrow, the yellow weather warning is in place as temperatures are set to plummet overnight.

The Met Office warning states: "Icy surfaces developing, with a little snow in places."

Adding what to expect if you're out and about, it states: "Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces and probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths."

The national weather service has predicted a largely cold and cloudy day with minimal sunshine across Nottinghamshire.

Top temperatures are only expected to reach 3C with lows of 2C.

Accuweather indicates the 3C temperature will feel more like freezing (0C) throughout the day dropping to 1C tonight, feeling more like -2C.

The yellow weather warning in place tonight covers a large area of the UK from far north parts of Scotland right down to the southern coast near Weymouth.

The Met Office stated: "Ice is likely to form on untreated surfaces during Monday night, especially where showers move well inland.

"Some of the showers will be wintry and could produce two to five centimetres lying snow above 250 metres, mostly over the Pennines and North York Moors where up to 10 cm is possible.

"Elsewhere, most places will see little or no snow, but a slight covering of a centimetre or so is possible in a few places."
