Subaru Corp. on Tuesday announced it has newly confirmed violations in its data measurement methods, adding to its data falsification scandal on fuel economy and emissions.
The automaker did not comply with regulations on such conditions as car speed and laboratory humidity when it conducted data measurements, it said. The number of vehicles affected by the new violations is 927.
The new violations were discovered through an on-the-spot inspection conducted by the Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Ministry in May. The ministry demanded that Subaru report in around one month on the reasons for the violations, how they developed and what measures it would take to prevent recurrence.
"We could not help questioning [Subaru's] attitude toward elucidating the overall picture [of the scandal]," a ministry official said.
