In Week 1 of 2019 preseason, kicker Kaare Vedvik drilled all four of his kicks, including a 55-yarder.
That led to the Vikings sending a fifth-round pick to the Ravens for Vedvik on Sunday.
In his kicking career, including practices, what’s the longest field goal Vedvik has connected on?
“The furthest I’ve made is 70, but I don’t see a point in trying anything further than that,” Vedvik said on Monday. “It’s fun if you can do it one day, but you just still want to keep working on the fundamentals and basics that will make you better.”
Vedvik’s range is certainly intiguing considering last year’s kicker Dan Bailey was just 5-for-11 on attempts more than 40 yards.
There is some growing speculation that the Vikings could keep Vedvik to punt and kick longer field goals, while Bailey would be there for shorter field goals (Bailey was 16-for-17 on field goals 39 yards or less).
