New video boards, food options await Bears fans at Soldier Field

Sept. 09--Bears fans may not always like what they see on the field this season, but their overall experience at Soldier Field figures to be improved.

Larger video boards, new dining options and a 14,000-square-foot event space that can accommodate 1,000 guests were unveiled to the media Wednesday at Soldier Field.

The Bears touted the new video boards as 300 percent larger and having the best clarity in the NFL "from a resolution perspective."

There are seven new digital video screens, including a pair of HD video boards. NFL scores will be displayed on the left side of the main video boards and in-game statistics will be posted on the right. The LED ribbon panels on the East and West 300 level fascia have been increased by 70 feet. A new 444-foot ribbon panel has been installed on the West 200 level fascia.

New food items available in either general concessions or the clubs include the Midway Monster (a Vienna hot dog, corned beef, bacon and Caraway Kraut on a pretzel bun); a bacon Mac and Cheese dog; Fritos pulled pork nachos; shaved hot pastrami, chicken tacos, flatbread pizza, crab salad and brisket egg roll.

The new event space is called "The Midway" and is located on the west-side mezzanine level. It is available for booking before and during games and other functions.
