New version of London Tube map that means you could never wait for another train

Any London Underground commuter knows the pain of missing a train—then having to wait sometimes 10 minutes or even longer for the next one.

If you’re travelling during rush hour, a missed train could be the difference between making that 9am work meeting or showing up late and flustered, with a lukewarm coffee in hand.

But a new version of the London Underground Tube map, created by engineer Ben James, could mean you’ll never miss a train again.

A live version of the Tube map displays the real-time location of every train in London—and, crucially, exactly when each one will arrive at every station.

The map pulls live data from Transport for London to detect any issues on the line—whether it's delays, disruptions, blockages, or congestion.

Users can zoom in and out of the map to focus on a specific line or area, or simply search for a station to see live arrival times in real time.

Darker points along the line show a train en route to its next station.

By hovering over a train, you find more details such as its serial number, current route, progress, and upcoming stops.

People have taken to social media to rave about the new Tube map, calling it "revolutionary" and "game-changing” for commuters.

“Simply brilliant,” one person commented, while another person added: “Wow this is so cool.”

Another person added: “This kind of sign should be in every bus stop, station and airport!”

Another said: “For next time you're traveling in London here's a brilliant live tube map, where you can zoom in and out of the network to see where all trains are.”

The new London Underground map could become an invaluable tool for commuters, much like the Citymapper app, which helps users navigate any city using real-time data and analytics. Citymapper displays routes for various transport modes, including trains, trams, and buses.
