New vegan protein advent calendar aims to take a bite out of the festive market

A new advent calendar hitting the market is out to add cheer to the festive season for vegans who often miss out on the annual treat.

And the latest offering packs a protein boost too which means a double-tick for those keeping a close eye on their diets.

It's from Boostbox, the makers of the Protein Advent Calendar which has proved a hit over the past two years, and they are out to build upon that success with a vegan edition making the most of the rising trend in animal product-free lifestyles.

Curt Weston is one of the founders of the company which creates protein gift boxes aimed at those focused upon their workout nutrition.

He said that the original protein advent calendar - a "world first" - has been its most successful product to date, having gone viral on Facebook last Christmas and attracted nationwide national coverage.

He added: "We’re really excited about what the reaction will be to our Vegan Protein Advent Calendar, especially given the current climate around vegan products."

The calendar contains 25 full-size plant-powered protein treats for each day leading up to Christmas and these include protein bars; balls; cakes; sweets, flapjacks and peanut butter.

The Vegan Protein Advent Calendar costs £39.99, compared to the more than £60 that customers would pay if they sought out the individual items, says the company.
