Unilever and NGO Solidaridad have joined together to improve one million lives in Unilever’s extended supply chain across Africa, Latin America and Asia.
The partnership, which was announced on 2 September, will focus on promoting gender equality, supporting young agricultural entrepreneurs, improving agricultural and labour practices and providing education on land management.
It will cover many of the key raw materials – tea, cocoa, sugar, palm oil, fruit and vegetables, soy and dairy - that Unilever uses within its business.
Unilever and Solidaridad have a long track record of creating sustainable supply chains. These already engage more than 150,000 smallholder farmers and workers in India, Mexico and Colombia.
