New Twitter update launches as Scots users are treated to revamped website and app

Scottish Twitter users have been greeted with a new look this morning as the social media firm released the first of many updates.

The revamped version of both the website and smartphone apps includes a new font, which makes it easier to read for users as they scroll down the page.

Colours are also more high contrast with a lot less blue, bringing more attention to multimedia elements such as photos and videos.

Buttons, such as the ‘follow’ one, have also been made more high contrast so users so the most important actions stand out more.

Twitter also said that it has removed a lot of the ‘visual clutter’ and replaced it with more space to make text easier to read.

It is hoped that the update will make using the website more ‘accessible’ than the previous version.

A new colour scheme on the website is expected in the future as bosses prepare more visual updates in the months to come.

In a tweet, the firm said: “Today, we released a few changes to the way Twitter looks on the web and on your phone.

“While it might feel weird at first, these updates make us more accessible, unique and focused on you and what you’re talking about.”

They later added: “This is only the start of more visual updates as Twitter becomes more centred on you and what you have to say.”
