New Tottenham stadium: What is printed on the front of the Spurs shirts vs Crystal Palace

Tottenham will finally return home tonight.

After almost two seasons away from N17, the first team will take to the pitch for the grand opening of the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It has been a long and arduous road for Spurs, with the ground beset by a number of delays and roadbumps in the building process.

The stadium had been planned to open at the start of this season, meaning Spurs would only be at Wembley for one year, but the ambitious plans did not come to fruition, with "critical safety issues" getting in the way.

The grand opening was put back and put back again, but finally, after two successful test events, the club have secured their requisite safety certificates and got the green light to host Premier League football at the £1billion complex.

Crystal Palace will be the first opponents at the stadium tonight, with the match preceded by an opening ceremony.

There is a commemorative programme for the occasion, and that's not all, the Tottenham players will be wearing special shirts as well.

The players that Mauricio Pochettino sends out to take on the Eagles for the first game will be wearing home shirts that have a special message embroidered into the front of them.

The message will read:

Inaugural Match
Tottenham Hotspur
Vs
Crystal Palace
3 April 2019

And supporters can get their hands on one of those shirts, too.

The home shirt with the special message on the front is on sale from tottenhamhotspur.com for £52.
