New Tottenham sponsor Dulux brutally mock club just minutes after partnership announcement

Tottenham's new sponsors have sent a series of tweets mocking the club just minutes after their partnership was announced on social media.

Spurs took to Twitter on Thursday morning to share the news that they had begun a partnership with Dulux, who they said were to become their first ever 'Official Paint Supplier'.

The post included a picture of the famous 'Dulux dog' at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and one supporter couldn't resist the chance to make fun of Spurs' leaky defence, asking "Can the dog play centre-back?"

In response to this, the official Dulux account replied "He might do a better job", along with a laughing face emoji.

They didn't stop there, however.

Another Twitter user posted: "Time to paint that trophy cabinet", and the Dulux account replied with a mocked-up picture of an empty cabinet with the Spurs logo, along with the caption "For sale, unused trophy cabinet."

Finally, in response to a post which read "Paint the dusty trophy cabinet," they answered "Don't be silly, surfaces should be dust free before painting", along with a hand over face emoji.

The tweets were later deleted, and it is likely Spurs will have been left furious by Dulux's conduct.

The exchanges saw Dulux at one point trending at No.1 on Twitter, and they certainly left rival supporters amused.

Spurs have not won a trophy since getting their hands on the then-Carling Cup in 2008, something they have long been mocked for given the size of the club.

They will have the opportunity to put that right in just under a week's time, however, when they face Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on April 25.

It is a game which could have huge ramifications for the future of their manager Jose Mourinho, who is coming under increasing pressure following his side's disappointing season.
