New Tottenham Hotspur Stadium dazzles for its first NFL game as Oakland Raiders snatch win

Oakland Raiders snatched a last-gasp 24-21 win over the Chicago Bears in a thrilling first NFL game at the new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It was a memorable occasion as Harry Kane flipped the coin pre-game in what finally felt like a suitable venue for the NFL in the UK.

And the on-field action delivered a fitting level of drama in front of a sell-out crowd of 60,463 as the Raiders dented Chicago’s play-off hopes and showed their own promise after a disjointed start to the campaign.

The underdog Raiders defied the odds after a drab first quarter to rack up 17 unanswered points in the second period of play.

But the Bears emerged a different side after the break and responded with 21 points of their own in the third quarter to take the lead.

Back-up quarterback Chase Daniels twice found Allen Robinson in the end zone to give the favourites the advantage.

Momentum all seemed in favour of the Bears when Sherrick McManis forced a fumble when Trevor Davis dived for a touchdown which would have seen the Raiders retake the lead at the end of the third.

A gutsy fake punt in the fourth quarter also looked to go against the Raiders, but a fumble recovered by the Bears was overturned to hand them a lifeline.

Rookie Josh Jacobs, named player of the game, powered in his second score of the day with less than two minutes remaining as the Raiders retook the lead.

The Bears rallied with a drive in the closing stages but a miscommunication saw Gareon Conley intercept a misplaced pass with just over a minute left to wrap up a vital win.
