New toddler group opens its doors in Lanarkshire village

The first session of a new toddler group in Cleland has taken place.

Teeny Tiny Totz was set up by a group of mums left frustrated of having no such facility in the village.

And after a number of weeks of preparation, Cleland’s Senior Citizens Centre was packed with parents and their young children.

Shelley Gallacher, who played a leading role in getting the toddler group set up, said: “We had around 70 people there which was incredible.

“None of us had ever set up anything like this before so it has been a bit trial and error but we got there.

“Both of my kids are lockdown babies so I put up a post on my Facebook about this and a lot of mums jumped onboard saying we needed something like this in Cleland.

“I think there was a group but since the lockdown we haven’t had anything open back so it’s definitely needed.

“Since we managed to get the hall from the council, the demand has been overwhelming. It’s quite a small hall so we will be running the group over two mornings.”

The toddler group runs every Wednesday and Thursday at Cleland Senior Citizens Centre from 10am to noon.
