New text alert service launched for DART passengers to report anti-social behaviour - here's how you can use it

Iarnród Éireann has launched a new text alert service for DART passengers to report any anti-social behaviour incidents on board DARTs and at train stations.

Reports from customers go straight to a live-monitored security centre, which will be staffed at all times during operational hours.

The security centre will then be able to make contact with security teams, Iarnród Éireann personnel or Gardaí as appropriate.

Customers will receive an automated response to confirm the message has been received, and with a link to further details of how the text alert system operates.

Other measures have also been implemented to address some of the anti-social behaviour complaints, including new CCTV in carriages and joint operations with gardaí, as well as significant increases in the number of security patrols.

To use the service, passengers simply text the word TRAIN followed by location, carriage number if possible, and details of the incident to 51444.
