Two new kinds of lateral flow covid-19 tests have arrived in Trafford – and they’re halving the amount of time you have to wait for results.
The nasal swabs, which don’t require a throat swab at the same time, only require 15 minutes to deliver results.

This has halved the usual 30 minute wait for the lateral flow tests most commonly used across the country in the past few months.
The new tests are available for home testing and on-site testing across the borough.
Trafford’s schools are set to begin using the on-site tests when their pupils return from September for the new school year.
Ben Willmot, council officer, gave an update to Trafford council this morning and said: “They don’t require a throat swab as well, which if you’re anything like me and you tend to cry whenever you’re getting a test done, that can only be a good thing.”
Mr Willmot explained secondary schools pupils will need to take two on-site tests at school at the beginning of the term then will move to at home testing throughout September.

The tests available for at home testing will also be the faster lateral flow tests.
Mr Willmot explained that the faster lateral flow kits will start to become available at pharmacies locally further down the line, after chemists work their way through existing, slower test kit stocks.
