New Tesco Clubcard scheme will charge members £7.99 a month

Tesco bosses have announced they are rolling out a new Clubcard plus scheme which charges members £7.99 a month.

Perks under the new supermarket loyalty card include discounts on food alongside other incentives like 10 per cent off selected Tesco brands and double data free of charge for those signed up to the store's mobile.

But the biggest draw has to be 10 per cent off your entire shop, according to our sister paper Manchester Evening News.

For anyone who spends around £200 a month at the store, they stand to make £240 a year.

But they will also have to fork out £95.88 annually to pay for the membership.

If you're a regular Tesco customer the Clubcard Plus scheme certainly seems worthwhile, as it means that you can bag 10 per cent off F&F, Fred & Flo, Go Cook, Tesco Pet, Carousel, and Fox & Ivy brands every time you shop.

Shoppers will also be able to bag themselves some points-boosting offers which are based on their shopping habits, such as 20 extra points on branded bread.

Tesco's Chief Customer Officer, Allesandra Bellini, said: "New Clubcard Plus is a breakthrough innovation giving customers even more ways to get the best value while shopping at Tesco, for their everyday essentials, weekly shops, Mobile and Banking".

Tesco has not given an official release date yet for the scheme but it's expected before 2020.
