New tenant wanted to 'unlock potential' of closed Nottingham pub

National pub chain Greene King has announced it is looking for a new operator for a pub in Sneinton to "unlock its future potential".

A sign has appeared outside the Lord Nelson pub, based in Lord Nelson Street, confirming the venue is available to let to a new tenant.

The Lord Nelson remains closed along with all other pubs in Nottinghamshire which have been placed under tier 3 restrictions by the Government.

An advert has appeared on the Greene King website encouraging potential tenants to apply to run the "quirky" pub "at the heart of the local community".

It reads: "The Lord Nelson is a popular 100% wet-led pub, in the Nottingham suburb of Sneinton. This local’s pub operates at the heart of the local community and hosts local Darts and Pool teams as well as offering regular entertainment such as quiz nights.

"A new, enthusiastic operator with local knowledge and a passion for quality Ale and great service will be key to unlocking the future potential of the pub. There is a commercial kitchen onsite, however, it has not been used for many years, so to re-introduce the food offer would mean any new tenant would need to consider investing in this facility.

"Internally, the pub is quirky with various snugs and the main bar offering a traditional feeling, with the walls covered in brasses and pub games on offer. Externally there is a lovely beer garden, waiting for its potential to be unlocked."

Greene King has been approached for comment.
