New tenant for iconic Glasgow late-night food spot The Noodle Bar

It deservedly earned its status as one the very best late-night food spots in Glasgow – visited by thousands of late-night revellers from pubs and clubs over the years.

And the news Glasgow Live broke back in August of 2019 that The Noodle Bar on Sauchiehall Street had closed its doors for good was met with an outpouring of grief and a wave of nostalgia for those who used to wait ticket-in-hand for their order at the city institution.

In it's time on Glasgow's busiest nightlife street its unmatched status and popularity was such that it even found itself immortalized in song in the form of gone-but-not-forgotten Springburn rockers The Apple Scruffs' slept-on anthem 'Lit The Candle At Both Ends'.

Now it seems that after little or no movement in the spot since then it appears that it might soon reopen in some shape or form - after the doors were spotted wide open and workmen seen inside it gutting the place out yesterday afternoon.

We've no idea what might be happening with the place - although the rumour is that the space has been taken on by the takeaway spot next door who are going to open a new food spot in the premises vacated by The Noodle Bar owners.

Part of us is praying that we might see The Noodle Bar rise like a phoenix from the flames and reopen in time for the pubs and clubs reopening post-pandemic.

We can but dream!
