MICROSOFT has had a new tartan listed in Scotland’s official registry to celebrate 20 years of its Xbox console in the country.
The international computing giant has teamed up with Gordon Nicolson Kiltmakers and Lochcarron of Scotland to create the tartan.
The kiltmakers, which are based on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, have also worked with the Scottish National Team to create their tartan.
Lochcarron of Scotland, which is headquartered in Selkirk, will weave the fabric.
The Xbox tartan incorporates the black and green of the brand.
Xbox said: "The pattern, using the brand's iconic colours, has been endorsed by the Scottish Tartans Authority and entered into The Scottish Register of Tartans.
"The landmark pattern and limited-edition controllers commemorate the history of Xbox with a contemporary design created by Edinburgh-based tartan designer Gordon Nicolson, makers of the Scotland National Football Team Tartan."

Nicolson said: “It’s an honour to work in partnership with one of the biggest technology brands in the world.

A competition is being run for a chance to win one of the limited edition controllers, with a small number of them also due to go up for sale.
