New tapas bar and restuarant El Pecado opens in city centre on Bold Street

A brand new tapas bar and restaurant has launched in Liverpool - in the former Our Kitchen on Bold Street.

The restaurant has been opened by a passionate team made up of chefs and wine and hospitality experts.

With decades of experience in the industry, consultant chef Steve McCabe said that the restaurant was born from a lot of like-minded people.

Steve said: "It has a cracking, passionate and professional little team...I'm sure in time it will become an institution on Bold Street and the Liverpool restaurant scene."

The new tapas bar is called El Pecado - meaning 'sin' is Spanish.

Restaurant manager Jay Bennett, who has previously worked at Host, the Quarter, and Hanover Street Social, said:  "We believe food and drink shared with friends should be fun and enjoyed to the full.

"Although our food and drink menu can be described as 'classic contemporary', it's very much 'down to earth and accessible' as one of our guests described it.

"There's something for everyone. The vibe here is also very laid back with no minimum spend and we're finding from early feedback that customers want to stay for a good while, enjoying a sin or two as part of the experience."

Executive Chef Martin Renshaw who has 20 years of industry experience,  said: "The food is simple but backed up with solid techniques, quality ingredients and contemporary presentation."

Menu highlights so far include the quail egg and sweet pepper tart, roast chicken thigh, spiced tomato and pepper sufrito plus the spiced aubergine, plum tomato and rocket bocadilla dishes. A vegan menu is also available.

At the bar, cocktails and specially selected wines are also available.

Even though the restaurant has only been open for a week, it has already gotten rave reviews on TripAdvisor.

Many of the reviewers have awarded the restaurant five stars, with one commenting: "Visited with friends last night and the food and service were amazing. Also great value! Would highly recommend. A lovely mix of classic tapas and some rather unusual small plates. Can't wait to go again!"

Another added: "Exceptional An amazing little pearl in the heart of bold street. A few days old yet with this menu and staff you'd think these guys have been going for years. Absolutely nothing to fault!"
