New Strictly star Will Bayley's tweet slagging off the show is unearthed

Will Bayley may wish he could go back in time after Strictly Come Dancing's latest new signing's disparaging tweet about the show from 2012 was uncovered

He joked about taking his own life because he was watching seven years ago and not out with friends instead.

The 31-year-old became the tenth star to sign up after the Paralympic table tennis champion agreed to come on board for the new series.

But The Sun have unearthed a tweet from him saying: “I’m 24 and I’m sat watching Strictly on a Friday night! Anyone got any rope?"

He has yet to address the matter on social media. MirrorOnline have contacted the BBC for comment.

Before the tweet went public, he was speaking about appearing on the show on TalkRADIO.

He told presenter Julia Hartley-Brewer: “I’ll work really hard, but I need someone to be honest, I just want someone to tell me if I’m rubbish!

“I have never, ever danced in my life. Apart from in clubs where my friends have told me to stop dancing in the club because I’m awful, so it’s going to be tough.

“I'm so proud to be on the show, it's my family's favourite show. I have no dance experience at all, but I hope I can do well."

The Strictly total now stands at eleven after Monday's announcement.

Made In Chelsea's Jamie Laing has become the latest star to be confirmed for the new series.

Jamie, 30, is the heir to the creator of the McVitie's digestive biscuit - and says he wants to make his mum proud.

He said: "I'm beyond thrilled to be asked to be on Strictly, the only person potentially more thrilled is my mother. I have finally become the son she hoped for!”

RuPaul's Drag Race star Michelle Visage is also signed on - as is CBBC host Karm Zeroual, 25, and Viscountess Weymouth Emma Thynn, 33.

The first confirmed name was England goalkeeper David James, 48.

He was followed by Emma Barton, 42, who plays Honey Mitchell in EastEnders.

Third to be announced was comedian Chris Ramsay, 33, and fifth was YouTube Saffron Barker, 19.

Catherine Tyldesley, 35, who played Eva Price in Coronation Street and sports presenter Mike Bushell, 53, were next.
