New Starbucks Drive Thru and McDonald's near Edinburgh get opening date confirmed

An opening date has been released for the brand new Starbucks Drive Thru just off the M8 motorway near Edinburgh.

The 4A junction at Heartlands Whitburn will now be home to a Starbucks Drive Thru, McDonald's, KFC and a Euro Garage petrol station.

Starbucks announced that the Drive Thru will be opening on September 17, as per their Facebook post, which read: "We have an opening date!! Get it marked in your calendar."

A photo was attached that read: "Starbucks Heartlands 17/09.2021 - We'll see you soon!"

Many Facebook users were excited by this news, tagging their friends and leaving over 100 comments in just an hour.

One Facebook user wrote: "Better get in the queue now can imagine how busy it will be!"

Another user said: "Perfect timing", while another replied to this saying: "Coffee date?"

Earlier this year, we reported that works had begun for the new drive thru and garage development in Whitburn, after the coronavirus pandemic pushed back the original opening date of June to this month instead.

The first announcement surrounding the purchase of this land to develop a Heartlands Business Park was made back in 2018, as Eurogarages looked to double the size of its Scottish locations.

The Heartlands 4A junction was also a recent addition to the M8 motorway, and opened to the public in the September of 2013.

The new development will open up to more than 300 jobs across West Lothian, and drive business to the small towns that surround the motorway exit, such as Whitburn, Harthill and Armadale.

The junction sits at equal distance from the two main Scottish cities, Glasgow and Edinburgh, meaning it is a good halfway stop off point when travelling across the central belt of Scotland.

More information on this initial development can be found on the West Lothian Council Facebook page, here.
