New Starbucks and Home Bargains set for Dalmarnock as east end construction resumes

The east end of Glasgow is set for a new Starbucks and Home Bargains as work on the Dalmarnock Riverside development prepares to resume.

Regeneration organisation Clyde Gateway are ploughing in £150million to projects in the east end and South Lanarkshire. Almost 1,000 homes are being built at Link Group and McTaggart Group's Dalmarnock Riverside development and Springfield Homes' development at Dalmarnock station, as reported by insider.co.uk.

The Starbucks and Home Bargains store will form part of the new Clyde Gateway Trading Outlet.

Meanwhile, Swan Group’s recent proposal for new homes at Newhall Street in Dalmarnock which will soon be joined by further residential development opportunities in Dalmarnock.

Clyde Gateway is also due to complete two office pavilions at Rutherglen Links Business Park, which were 12 weeks from completion when lockdown began. A new headquarters for the STUC at Bridgeton will restart and is to be completed before the end of the year.

Speculative development the Purifier Studios, on the site of the former gas works in Dalmarnock, will also start on site with the Victorian building given a new lease of life as offices and workspaces.

Investment company Harris Finance, with headquarters in Clyde Gateway, will complete a new bespoke distribution and office facility on behalf of global logistics company, DHL Express at Clyde Gateway East.

Martin McKay, executive director of Clyde Gateway, said: “Clyde Gateway has attracted more than £1 billion of investment to the area and has put itself firmly on the map as ‘the place’ for people to live and work and where businesses can thrive. Kick starting the investment in housing, business space and leisure facilities is welcome news, and with further exciting investment opportunities in the pipeline, development activity is set to top £200 million in Clyde Gateway over the coming year.”
