New speed limits to be introduced to key Mid Ulster roads

A Mid Ulster District Council committee has welcomed proposals to introduce speed limits on roads in both Dungannon and Moneymore.

Members of council’s environment committee were made aware the Roads Service plans to introduce a 40mph speed limit on a stretch of Bush Road, Dungannon and a 30mph speed limit on the Desertmartin Road, Tullynagee Road and Station Road in Moneymore.

A proposal to endorse these changes was put forward by Councillor Clement Cuthbertson and it was seconded by Councillor Christine McFlynn.

Councillor McFlynn said she was happy to propose the report but noted that she had requested the PSNI and Department for Infrastructure introduce speed limits on these roads in Moneymore.

“I think it is important we try and get these schemes through the area to try and get speeds down,” said Cllr McFlynn.

“Anyway we can get a reduction in speeding is a very good thing, so I am happy to second the proposal to endorse these changes.”
