New speakeasy bar replaces South Liverpool Indian restaurant

A new speakeasy bar opened its doors in Liverpool just weeks before the city moved into Tier 3 restrictions.

21st Amendment opened inside the former East Z East on Church Road back in December, but has now temporarily closed again to adhere to Government guidelines.

The bar is named after America's 21st Amendment, which abolished prohibition back in the 1930s.

21st Amendment is a gastropub, serving up food, cocktails and live music, with speakeasy decor and lighting to create a prohibition-era atmosphere.

According to owners, the serving bar at the Church Road venue is a reclaimed bar from Belfast, and there's even a small function room which can be privately booked once bars and restaurants are able to open again.

A spokesperson for 21st Amendment said: "We feel this bar fits the area and compliments the other bars and restaurants currently operating on Penny Lane/Church Road and will become a destination for people from other area."
