New snow and ice weather warning for Ayrshire as cold snap continues

A fresh winter weather warning has been issued for Ayrshire as the new year cold snap continues this weekend.

The yellow warning for snow and ice is in place from now until 11am tomorrow morning.

Met Office chiefs say scattered snow showers will lead to some travel disruption.

The warning covers all of Ayrshire, the west coast of Scotland and island communities up to Orkney and Shetland.

People should be alert to some icy patches on untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths.

Also, roads and railways are likely to be affected with longer journey times for motorists and bus and train services.
