After the rage over sheet masks, Swedish company Foreo has upped the game by introducing the world's first smart mask treatment called UFO, which stands for Ur Future Obsession.
"Face masks are the guilty pleasure of millions. But is lying under cold, wet sheets of paper the best we can do?" asked Foreo CEO Paul Peros. "After four years in development, our designers and technicians have proven there is a better way."
The K-beauty trend helped spur the popularity of sheet masks. However, they have their drawbacks, include limited penetration and facial coverage, as well being time-consuming.
Foreo's beauty-tech device optimises the benefits of a mask while allowing a DIY facial treatment in just 90 seconds. The Swedish technology combines LED light therapy with cryotherapy, thermotherapy and T-Sonic pulsations, activated via your smartphone.
"We are giving women their time back, eradicating the need for expensive spa treatments, offering everyday convenience and ease through the app-enabled functions and, essentially, bringing results and an at-home, luxurious experience," said Peros.
Founded in 2013, Foreo has created its own skincare categories: Luna is facial cleansing and massage, Espada is blue light acne treatment and Iris is illuminating eye massage. Priced at 9,999 baht, the UFO device and activated-sheet masks are available at Sephora stores. It evenly distributes the mask essence across every area of the face, while hyper-infusion technology combines heat to open pores, T-Sonic pulsations to infuse the active ingredients and cryotherapy to seal them.
The LED light therapy involves red for anti-ageing, green for brightening and blue for anti-acne effects, varying in temperature and pulsation intensity according to a preprogrammed treatment. For instance, the device is used to apply a mask infused with hyaluronic acid and red algae for a hydrating and anti-pollution treatment.
The process begins with 30 seconds of thermotherapy and red LED light to prep the skin and open pores. Over the next 30 seconds, T-Sonic pulsations heightens absorption of the mask essence. During the final 30 seconds, the green LED light and lower frequency pulsations promote evenness and radiance.
The Foreo For You app (available for iOS and Android) is preprogrammed into the device, making it even easier to use.
"We're taking the latest professional beauty technologies available and incorporated them into one UFO device to unleash the full potential of our face mask," said Peros.
