New signings and injured stars named in Manchester United’s Champions League squad

Manchester United have named their 25-man squad for the Champions League group stage.

A daunting trip to Bayern Munich is first up for Erik ten Hag’s side before games against Galatasaray and Copenhagen.

The Red Devils have called up each of their summer signings to the competition, including Sofyan Amrabat, Rasmus Hojlund and returning veteran Jonny Evans.

Jadon Sancho has also made the cut despite a public falling-out with Ten Hag after being dropped for the weekend defeat at Arsenal. The United winger rebuked his manager’s claims he had not trained hard enough and described himself as a “scapegoat”.

Luke Shaw, Mason Mount and Raphael Varane are in the squad despite being injury doubts for the start of the campaign.

Antony is another player included despite being dropped by the Brazil national team over allegations surrounding his personal life.

The winger’s former girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, revealed details of an alleged assault to media outlets back home on Monday. Antony denies any wrongdoing.

Not included in the 25-man selection are Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo, who are among the under-21 players eligible for the B List which will be released closer to the Bayern game. Donny van de Beek has missed out.
