Sammy Ameobi is aiming to get Nottingham Forest fans off their seats after becoming the club’s first signing of the summer.
The 27-year-old has at the City Ground, joining as a free agent after leaving Bolton Wanderers.
Able to play on the wing or up front, Ameobi made 31 appearances for the Trotters last season, scoring four goals, though was unable to prevent them dropping in to League One.
His new club are aiming to battle at the opposite end of the Championship table in the upcoming campaign, with Martin O’Neill’s men targeting a place in the Premier League.
And Ameobi is looking to play his part by bolstering the Reds’ attacking options.
“I’m hoping to excite people,” he said.
“I’m someone who likes to create opportunities and, hopefully, score goals and create assists. Hopefully I can do that this season.”
The former Newcastle United man, who has also previously had loan spells at Middlesbrough and Cardiff City, could get his first chance to pull on the Garibaldi this weekend, when the Reds kick off their pre-season friendly programme against Alfreton Town on Saturday.

Ameobi did not feature in either of Bolton’s games against Forest last term but says he was still impressed by the squad O’Neill has to work with.
The “quality” of players at the club, as well as the chance to take to the City Ground pitch convinced Ameobi that putting pen to paper on the banks of the Trent was the right move.
“I’m very happy,” he told the official website. “Obviously I know the history of this club.
“It’s a great club and I’m really happy to be a part of it going forward.
“I know the quality of the players; I’ve played against Forest a few times.
“And the stadium as well; the ground is such a great place to be.
“That was a huge factor in me moving here and being part of such a great club.”
The Reds are already back in training, having got their schedule underway with some drills at Wollaton Park today.
They will spend this week completing fitness tests and running drills before heading to Spain on Sunday for one of two training camps abroad.
“I’ve had my holidays, I’ve come back fighting fit and now I’m raring to go,” Ameobi added.
