New signing's message for Nottingham Forest fans after making debut for 'this great club'

Anthony Knockaert has thanked Nottingham Forest fans for the warm welcome he has received since joining the club.

And the winger is eager to kick on, after making his debut for the Reds in Friday night’s 1-1 draw at home to arch-rivals Derby County.

Posting on Instagram, he wrote: “Happy to make my debut for this great football club... Great reaction second half from the boys! Let’s keep this unbeaten run now. Rest and get ready for the next fight Wednesday. Also thanks for all the lovely welcome messages from the Nottingham fans.”

Knockaert made the move to the City Ground on loan from Fulham on domestic transfer deadline day.

He had to bide his time for his first involvement for Chris Hughton’s side, having not been included in the matchday squads against Blackburn Rovers and Rotherham United.

He was on the bench for the East Midlands derby, however, and replaced Lewis Grabban at half-time as the hosts looked to find a way back into the game after falling behind.

The 28-year-old quickly made an impact, looking lively and floating over the corner from which Lyle Taylor equalised for Forest.

It meant the spoils were shared on the banks of the Trent, with the Reds unbeaten in Hughton’s first three games in charge.

They will now head to Luton Town on Wednesday, followed by a trip to face Middlesbrough next Saturday.
