New signing Rafa Mir discusses the 'very big challenge' of joining Nottingham Forest

Striker Rafa Mir says he can’t wait to tackle the “very big challenge” which comes with signing for Nottingham Forest.

on a season-long loan deal from Wolverhampton Wanderers, becoming the Reds’ seventh new arrival of the summer.

Mir spent last term on loan at Segunda Division side Las Palmas, in his homeland, bagging seven goals in 30 appearances.

Prior to joining Wolves in January 2018, he had been at Valencia, and is now looking forward to taking the next step in his career as Forest prepare for a promotion push in the Championship.

“It is a very big challenge. It is one step more in my career and I think it is the best option for me,” the 22-year-old said after completing his switch to the City Ground.

He added: “I am very happy to be here at such an historic club in England and all around the world.

“I can’t wait to start training with my new teammates and I’m very happy to be here.”

Sabri Lamouchi’s men begin their new campaign at home to West Bromwich Albion at the City Ground on Saturday, with securing a place in the Premier League the ultimate aim.

Although he has experience of playing abroad, Mir says the English game particularly suits his style.

And he links up with his new teammates fresh from winning the Under-21 European Championships with his country this summer.

“English football is very strong and very fast, and I think it is the best game for me,” he told the official club website.
