New shipping container venue 'Frate' to open in Newcastle with live music and street food

A new shipping container venue called ‘Frate’ is set to open in Newcastle city centre this May offering live music and street food.

The open-air destination will be located behind Grey Street, just off High Bridge, in what many will know as the Market Shaker’s former beer garden. Frate, which will have its own entrance, will feature street food, drinks and a range of entertainment.

The founders of Market Shaker, Pumphreys and The Dog & Parrot are behind the new complex which is set to open in time for the May Bank Holiday weekend on Friday, May 26. The temporary venue will be set over two levels and made from recycled freight containers.
