New series to celebrate Dame Mary Berry’s 60-year career

Mary At 90: A Lifetime Of Cooking celebrates the 60-year career of Dame Mary Berry (BBC/PA) -

A series celebrating Dame Mary Berry’s 60-year career in cooking and broadcasting is to air on BBC Two.

Mary At 90: A Lifetime Of Cooking will see the former Great British Bake Off judge joined by celebrities including gardener Alan Titchmarsh, chef Jamie Oliver and Match Of The Day presenter Gabby Logan, after Dame Mary turned 90 this year.

The six-part series will see her teach guests how to make some of her best-loved recipes, as she shares stories from her career and reflects on the way cooking has changed over the last 60 years.

Dame Mary said: “I can’t quite believe I’ve been cooking for 60 years. Looking back through the archives and my career, the time has just flown by. I’ve loved every minute of it and am still enjoying every minute of it.

“This series has been such a joy to make. What a trip down memory lane to share with some very special friends, old and new, and of course the viewers.

“I’ve included some of my all-time favourite recipes – some with a new twist and exciting new ones too, which I hope will inspire people to enjoy cooking at home.”

The show, which will also feature TV presenter Alex Jones, actor Kiell Smith-Bynoe and comedian Tom Allen, will share footage from Dame Mary’s personal archive.

Ricky Cooper, BBC commissioning editor, said: “This is a very special series. We’re thrilled Mary is sharing her treasured memories from such an illustrious career.

“I’m sure audiences across the UK will savour them and enjoy the incredible new and updated classic recipes cooked with love with some of the nation’s best-known faces.

“A fabulous way to celebrate the icon that is Dame Mary in this incredible milestone birthday year.”

Mary At 90: A Lifetime Of Cooking is expected to air later in the autumn, and will also be available on iPlayer, with an accompanying book called Mary 90 – My Very Best Recipes released on October 9.

Dame Mary has written more than 80 cookery books, becoming a UK household name for her recipes and tips, including her recipe for a Victoria sponge cake.

In 2021 she was made a dame for a lifetime of cooking, writing and baking, and in December 2024 she was announced the winner of the lifetime achievement award at the Women In Film And Television Awards.
