New senior citizens' club proves a hit in East Kilbride

A senior citizens' group has proved popular with older folk in East Kilbride.

The new High Point Senior Citizens' Club in Greenhills, which was only set up a matter of weeks ago, now has a full membership of 32 said Chairperson Councillor Archie Buchanan.

However, the group is taking names for the waiting list and is open to residents from across East Kilbride.

And the group enjoyed its first year of festivities last month

It held a Christmas raffle with two hampers up for grabs and several other smaller prizes.

Councillor Buchanan said: "The club is also supporting EK food bank Loaves and Fishes with a collection point at the club which meets in the Greenhills Parish Church on a Wednesday afternoon between 2 and 4pm.

"We were also delighted to receive a visit from Co-op staff in the Village who gifted us several large jigsaws, cakes and biscuits, which were well received."

The club is open to anyone in East Kilbride and if they wish to have their names added to is waiting list, they should in the first instance contact Archie on 07748114555 or at archie.buchanan@southlanarkshire.gov.uk
