New Seahawks NFL draft order following Frank Clark trade

The Seattle Seahawks pulled off a blockbuster just days before the NFL draft, trading star defensive end Frank Clark to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for a first-round pick (No. 29 overall) as well as a second-round selection in 2020.

Seattle and Kansas City also exchanged third-round picks in the deal, with the Seahawks moving down eight spots.

Seattle now has five total picks in the upcoming NFL draft:

Round 1 (Pick 21)

Round 1 (Pick 29 – from KC)

Round 3 (Pick 92 – from KC)

Round 4 (Pick 124)

Round 5 (Pick 159)

Seattle seems very unlikely to hold onto both first round picks, and will likely use at least one – or possibly both – to trade down and acquire more capital in the middle or later rounds.

Of course, this trade also enhances Seattle’s need for more pass rushing, of which there is plenty in this year’s draft class. The Seahawks could very well use one of their first rounders to acquire an impact pass rusher to replace Clark while trading the other for more picks.

The possibilities are endless now that Seattle also has more cap space available to use to sign an edge defender in free agency (like Ezekiel Ansah).

With the draft just over 48 hours away, many of these questions will be answered in short order.
