A new shop specialising in sci-fi and popular culture merchandise has opened in Bristol city centre.
Fans of Star Wars, Doctor Who, Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, Game of Thrones and Star Trek will be in their element when they visit The Television and Movie Store, which has replaced Hawkin's Bazaar in The Galleries.
The shop's range of merchandise including clothing, mugs, collectables, pop vinyls, action figures and much more.
It's run by Steven Scott, who also operates popular branches of The Television and Movie Store in Norwich and Cardiff, and launched on June 15 - the day non-essential shops were given the green light to reopen by the Government.
"Of course it’s an unusual time, but in the world of science fiction and cult TV there is no such thing as normal, so what better time could there be for us to open?" said Steven, 56.
"We had been busy online leading up to the launch of the new Bristol store but I wasn't sure what the reaction from the public would be when the shops reopened.
"Thankfully we've got off to a very encouraging start and have enjoyed brisk trade so far.
"It's very much a destination shop where people can spend an age browsing everything we have on offer."
Steven said he wanted to open in The Galleries as the shopping centre is "very receptive to unusual independent businesses" and its managers "realise that variety is important".
He kept many of the close-knit team who were previously employed at Hawkin's Bazaar, which closed in February, after hearing about their strong work ethic.
"I'd heard they were one of the hardest working groups in the Hawkin's Bazaar company and thought it would have been a huge shame for local people to lose their jobs, which is another reason I was keen to take on that unit," he added.
"We’re all very excited to be defying the odds by opening in these uncertain times and putting down new roots."
