New school crossing supervisors at Hunter Schools

Safety outside five Hunter schools will be improved following the appointment of new school crossing supervisors.

The supervisors have been appointed at Morisset Public School, St Mary's Primary School, Warners Bay, St Patrick's Primary School, Swansea, Warners Bay Public School and West Wallsend Public School.

They are among 88 new school crossing supervisors to be appointed across the state.

"These appointments have been made possible thanks to the NSW Government's $18.5 million commitment to increasing student safety around schools. The new crossing supervisors will monitor children at the school's designated crossing as they walk to and from school," Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter Catherine Cusack said

"We look forward to welcoming our new school crossing supervisors over the coming months as they join more than 1200 others across the state helping to keep primary school students safe."

Motorists can download the Speed Adviser app to alert drivers when they enter an active school zone.

Teachers and families can visit the Safety Town website https://www.safetytown.com.au/ for educational road safety activities.
