Council of Cooperative Health Insurance (CCHI) Secretary-General Mohammed al-Hussein stressed Saturday that the new unified document and its annexes will be applied on new or renewed insurance policies starting Sunday.
Only old documents that are still valid will be accepted after this date.
He said that the council has notified all health insurance companies about the updates.
The new scheme now includes comprehensive dental and gum treatment, vaccination against the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) in children, early detection of hearing impairment and a congenital heart defects program.
It will also cover costs for the sleeve weight-loss surgery and treatment for mild and severe psychological disorders.
Hussein warned that the financial limit of the new health insurance document is SR500,000.
He noted that the secretariat regularly develops and updates the unified document to improve health insurance services.
He urged the people to be aware of their insurance rights by checking the executive list and the new unified document available on the CCHI’s website.
