New rules on face coverings become law in Scotland today

The Scottish Government is getting tough in the fight to control coronavirus with a raft of new rules being introduced today.

Tightening of face covering regulations is among them and means we'll now expected to wear them in place where previously we didn't need to.

Indoor communal areas, including corridors, workplace canteens and break rooms have been added to the list of we're now required to cover up.

The move comes in a week were thousands of new cases of the virus have been confirmed in Scotland and many bars and restaurants forced to close for more than two weeks.

The face covering regulations apply to everyone, with the exception of under fives and those with exemptions, for example legitimate disability or health reasons.

Police can issue £60 fines to anyone caught ignoring the law.

But with the rules on what we can and can't do constantly shifting here's a latest list of many of the places you must wear a face covering in Scotland - unless of course you're exempt.
